Thanks for your patience! Hello and welcome to [artpost i], the first artistic entry in my sketch journal. I hope to furnish you with more in this vein; half-finished ideas, things that'll never get completed, daydreams and fantasies. My aim is to entertain and amuse, and maybe even inform, if you're learning to draw and wondering how I do my work. I always find it interesting and useful to look at how artists sketch - a lot can be learned from observing construction.
Heh, I sound extraordinarily pompous. Honestly, I don't expect anyone to want to learn from me - hell, I'm still learning and (slowly..) improving myself. I do not claim to be an expert, never will.
Either way, that's enough from me: let's get on with it!
This group of sketches and doodles comes from when we had a family get-together a few weeks back and went to Pizza Express to sate our communal longing for pizza and hilarity. My sibling and I dutifully scrawled all over any available napkin, as we always do (a custom from when we were much smaller) and the results are below. Prepare thyself.
It all started with this one:
...which is Tarnish. He's a Fae! Tarnished metal (where he got his name) and Ruined Reputations are his domains. He's ruinously beautiful and his skin looks like an old mirror.
And then, I drew some monsters:
Which were cute and useless. There's grumpmonster, a tentacle bird, and a... tentacle thing. Which is very happy, but a bit useless. Like me.
And then, my sibling joined in with a contribution of FAILIMALS:
Yes, there is a joke there expressed in MATHS. I'd explain, but I have no idea what it means, either. My sibling is such a geek <3 <3 <3
Sibling then drew TENTAWOLF:
..which is very intelligent, but alas, it has tentacles for legs, which don't quite do as it wishes. It finds this frustrating.
My tentacle birds:
They are very happy.
And then, we started obsessing over the tentacle things. Here is one eating its usual prey: the arrogant chap in the bowler hat. I have no idea where I got that idea from.
I love how it's just descending with its gob open. So did the sibling. Here is one rejecting a chav as a food target:
The chav and the perplexed tentabeast are done by the sib: the CHAVMUNCHER EXTREME is by me.
Any then there were organists!
This one's drawn by the sib entirely - the speech bubble reads, "Simon, why aren't you looking in the mirror? ...Simon?" referring to the mirror that organists have so that they can watch the choir/conductor. My sibling is an organist: this explains both the sudden diversion into organist territory and the terrible handwriting.
Moreganists:
A collaborate effort! Sib drew the organ/organist/thing coming out of the pipes to torment the poorganist as he plays, and I drew the ORGANIST MUNCHER approaching from behind. And the same organist muncher, below, with a mouthful of surplice.
A tentacle beast tragically misses...
...and gets a mouthful of floor.
THIS ONE EATS ORGAN PIPES:

And then there were choirboys:
The first is by my sib entirely. The second, only the choirboys are, and the emerging maw behind them is by me. :)
Thus concluded that evening, and this, the first artpost on this journal. There are more coming in the next hour. Standby for more headpeople, more geekery, a dragon made of fingers and porn. Don't worry, the porn will be in a seperate post cordoned off by a cut and several large warnings!
